We have a nice big tree in the front garden. For Christmas I set it up with some tinsel and a star on top. Of course the star has to turn on at night and back off in the daytime. I could have used a cheap wall timer, but in the spring I want to build a more sophisticated controller for watering our plants which knows about the weather etc. So I ran some speaker wire and set up a Pi to do scheduling.
Wiring pieces together and writing code doesn’t take very long. Most of the time is spent
- Tinning wire, and
- Debugging group permissions for GPIO on the RRi
Why does the world work like this I wonder?
Code is here.
