I found that the fingerprint reader on the Framwework 13 Pro would get intermittently stuck.

There are other reports of this happening: the button gets hooked under the metal face of the input cover.

I fixed it by opening the machine, removing the fingerprint reader, and using a sharp knife to shave less than 1mm of plastic off the south edge and SW/SE corners of the button. Now it works perfectly.

I can understand why people who buy a very expensive laptop like this get mad if it doesn’t show up perfect. I’m also very lucky to be in a position where I have the money to buy this thing and the time to fix it. I do really appreciate that it is so easy to open it up and make this repair, and in a way I am compelled that the easily repairable nature of the device makes it a little easier for Framework, a startup company, to ship something at the 99% level rather than 99.9999% – anyway…

I hope this is helpful for anyone else having the issue. Just shave a little off the sharp south edge and corners of the button with a knife
